Research Areas
The research done at the Theological faculty is rich especially in its interdisciplinary nature. The faculty opened up to other sciences early on and understands herself as one of the founding members of the center for Jewish studies, as well as an anchor for any kind of religious research at the University, given that one of her professorial chairs was officially turned into a chair for Religious Studies. At the faculty in Basel theology is taught from an explicitly interreligious standpoint. This is demonstrated as well by the many research priorities set by the existing chairs at the faculty:
